“Tabacalera Cubana S.A.” (TACUBA) was created in June 2006 in
Estelí, Nicaragua, as an important part of “El Rey de los Habanos, Inc.”
and the expansion of the Don Pepín tobacco family.
It is a modern and well organized factory where incredible blends
are being created. Cigar Aficionado magazine has called it “a factory
to watch” and “one of the new boys on the block of cigar
manufacturers.” TACUBA is a true factory, encompassing all
manufacturing steps from preparation of raw material to finishing
and packaging. At this factory increased production does not
come at the expense of quality – rather, both move forward
hand in hand.
At present, with its 100 cigar rollers and 75 employees in
other departments, projected annual production is 3.6 million cigars,
which include recognized private brands.
Pepín and his son Jaime, both of whom had a central role in creating the factory, have a
long history in the world of tobacco. For many years they worked as tobacco growers and
cigar manufacturers in Cuba. Now they have brought their vast experience to the
development of this new factory, just as they have been doing for “El Rey de los Habanos, Inc.,”
enabling both factories to achieve a position of prominence in the market.
